Nier Automata Receives First Review Score, A Superb 39/40 By Famitsu

An auspicious start.

Square Enix and Platinum Games’ Nier Automata may not be out in the west until next month, but Japan is getting ready for it already. Which also means that Japanese outlets are now getting ready to share their reviews and scores for the game.

The first of these is from Japanese magazine Famitsu, which has gone ahead and rated Nier Automata an almost perfect 39/40. Fans of Platinum, of Nier, and just folks who were looking forward to Nier Automata, will probably be understandably happy about this news- and indeed, this bodes an auspicious start for the Platinum developed sequel.

However, do keep in mind that Famitsu scores are not generally considered to be all that trustworthy anymore. While I am sure that Nier will be a great game, and that it will score high, Famitsu’s score may not be indicative of the exact kind of reception that the game receives.

Which, of course, still won’t stop it from being a great game. Nier Automata launches in March on PS4, with a Steam version announced for later release.
