NieR Automata Will Have Higher Resolution And Better Graphics on PS4 Pro

The PS4 version will run at 900p.

The upcoming NieR Automata, the Platinum Games developed sequel to the cult classic original Square Enix game, will be supporting Sony’s PS4 Pro console, Square Enix Producer Yosuke Saito and PlatinumGames Producer Eijiro Nishimura revealed during a livestream held for the game.

This PS4 Pro support will not entail 4K resolution support- they seem to be foregoing that in favor of better, enhanced graphics. The game will run at 60 fps on standard PS4 systems, as well as PS4 Pro, which is good, because a game with the kind of action combat as this one needs silky smooth framerate, but the Pro version will still benefit from higher resolution- native 1080p for the PS4 Pro, versus 900p for the standard PS4.

The Pro will also see enhanced visual effects, including better lighting, higher resolution shadows, motion blur, god rays, and so on. These are all subtle changes that cumulatively lead to a sharper looking game- you can check out the differences for yourself in the gallery below. NieR Automata will launch for PS4 and PC; its release is scheduled for March 7 in North America, and March 10 in Europe.
