Nine Game Franchises That May Not Get A Trilogy (But Probably Deserve It)

Star Fox

Excluding cancelled games and spin-offs, there have only been two true Star Fox games: The technically ahead of its time Star Fox on SNES, and the now legendary Star Fox 64 (or Lylat Wars if you live in a PAL territory) on N64. Both of these games are phenomenal, so why the hell haven’t Nintendo had the foresight to get a third game on the go? Between the original Star Fox 64 release in 1997 and now, we’ve had strategy spin-offs, a third person adventure, a 3D handheld remake etc. Have we had the proper third game though? Hell no. Get your priorities in order Nintendo.

Shenmue

I could probably write a full book on reasons why Shenmue 3 should be made. Unfortunately for us though, the capitalist machine dictates that it is not to be. Granted, the original two cost an unreasonable amount to make, but technology is different now. I don’t care if you use the old engine with the dodgy graphics, just get it done Sega! You can’t leave a series as good as Shenmue half finished as it is at the moment.

Half-Life

Controversial, I know, but it’s a legitimate concern all the same. Valve would be pretty stupid not to continue the immensely popular Half-Life series but, considering how long it has been since we’ve heard anything about new Half-Life content, I’m starting to lose hope. Hell, it’s been nearly five years now since Episode 2, and that wasn’t exactly the most lengthy expansion pack we could have asked for. Valve have offered us some great games over the past few years but, with the neglect they’ve been showing the Half-Life franchise, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to assume that the trilogy may never be completed.
