Nintendo Announces New 2DS XL, Out in July for $150

Features XL screens and more processing power.

There’s a new DS on the horizon but it’s not the 3DS. Nintendo has announced the New Nintendo 2DS XL which will be releasing in July and retailing for $150.

Along with XL screens, built-in Amiibo functionality and a C-stick for “enhanced controls”, the New 2DS XL sports a revamped folding design. Unlike the 3DS, it doesn’t have stereoscopic 3D functionality. However, given how most people opt to play with the 3D off, it’s probably a better deal.

Plus with adding processing power, you’ll be able to handle more recent releases like Pokemon Sun and Moon and the upcoming Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

Despite the Switch’s release, the 3DS is still going strong with releases like Hey Pikmin and Miitopia coming up. What are your thoughts on yet another iteration of the DS hardware? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
