Nintendo has already shared some of its plans for E3 this year, where it seeks to continue on with the momentum and forward movement that it established at E3 last year. However, in keeping with its theme of not making any major announcements pertaining to its future plans this year, they confirmed today that company president Satoru Iwata will not be attending E3 this year.
In a statement to IGN, the company said, “Nintendo’s focus for E3 this year will be showcasing the many games we have coming for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Mr. Miyamoto and other members of our development team will be in Los Angeles to explain these games and the unique experiences that each offers. Mr. Iwata’s focus in this period will be on other areas of our business that require his presence in Japan.”
They did go on to assure IGN that Iwata would be constantly in touch with the crew at E3, and keep tabs on the reactions to Nintendo’s announcements.
This, of course, precludes the chances of NX or Nintendo’s mobile games being shown off at E3 that much more. Still, major software related announcements might still be incoming, so let’s wait and see how things unfold.
