Nintendo Executive Teases Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC, Says Fans Won’t Want to Miss It

Promises it will be “surprising” much like Piranha Plant was. Welp.

It may have seemed like it would never happen, but we are now in the final three days leading up to the release of the eagerly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch. But even though the hype cycle for the game itself is almost complete, we know things will keep going well after its launch, thanks to series creator and director Masahiro Sakurai already having confirmed DLC for the game.

Not much is known about the DLC, other than that the decisions for who will be added to the game via it have already been made, and that they were made by Nintendo, without fan input—but it seems like whatever it is is going to be a must have for fans anyway. Nintendo’s Treehouse staff member JC Rodrigo said to Game Informer that the DLC will be “surprising”, much like Piranha Plant was, and that fans will not want to miss it.

“Mr. Sakurai and his team and everyone that works on the game – we love surprises. Just like Piranha Plant, we believe the DLC is going to be a must-have. For me, as a fan… oh man, I would not miss these for the world,” he said.

Which sounds pretty hype worthy to me (although of course a Nintendo rep will talk up DLC for their biggest upcoming release). I wonder what these new additions will be. Can we finally have a Xenoblade 2 rep please?
