Even though Minecraft hasn’t been on the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U, and developer Mojang’s own Jens Bergensten stated that a Wii U edition of the game is unlikely, Nintendo does claim to have a “continuing relationship” with the company
Speaking to GameSpot about Minecraft on Nintendo platforms, Nintendo’s business development manager Dan Adelman stated, “What can we say on that front?” Senior marketing manager for licensing Damon Baker then stated that, “We’re big fans. We have a continuing relationship with Mojang, and respect all the work that they’re doing, but no announcements at this time.”
Considering that Minecraft is available on the Xbox 360 and PC, with releases due for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the coming year, it’s a big of a stickler that the developer has continued to ignore Nintendo as a viable platform. Maybe not the Wii U but the 3DS, which is outselling the Xbox 360 even in the United States? We’ll see how long that continues.
