Sony recently announced that it’ll be increasing the PS5’s prices in a number of regions, including the UK, Canada, Japan, and more, and the announcement has proven predictably unpopular. In the aftermath, however, other companies have stepped forward to provide assurances that they don’t plan on following in Sony’s footsteps.

Recently, Microsoft said that it has no plans to increase the prices of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Now, in a statement to Eurogamer, Nintendo has confirmed the same, saying it has “no plans to increase the trade price of its hardware.”

That means the Nintendo Switch’s base model, the Nintendo Switch OLED, and the Nintendo Switch Lite should continue being sold at their current prices across all regions- at least for the foreseeable future.

Given the evident unpredictability of the market at this stage, it’s reassuring to get statements from company confirming that they don’t have any price hikes planned for now. As for Sony, Ampere analyst Piers Harding-Rolls has said that the PS5’s price changes are unlikely to have much of an impact on the console’s overall sales- read more on that through here.
