Advance Wars came out on the Nintendo Gameboy… Advance in 2001 to critical success. A turn-based strategy game, Advance Wars soaked into a much deeper RTS than the cartoony aesthetics give it credit for. Receiving several sequels on the same and different consoles, Advance Wars showed that Nintendo could do many different genres, make them fun, light hearted, but mechanically tactical and awesome.
