12 million???

Nintendo’s NX is as promising as it is mysterious, and everything we have heard about it has sounded promising. Nintendo themselves seem to think they are on to something big with this one, since they refuse to talk too much about it, since they promise something new with it, and since they have promised that they will return to Wii era profits with the NX.

But I think they may be getting a wee bit carried away here.

DigiTimes reports that Nintendo is planning on shipping a staggering 12 million units of the system in 2016 alone- this sort of performance in the launch year is insane and unprecedented for any other system. The PS2 did not do this. The PS4 did not do this. The Wii didn’t even do it- clearly Nintendo think they are on to something here.

Apparently, the system will also enter manufacturing some time in Q2 2016, further reinforcing the the mid 2016 release date that has been reported.

All of this sounds exciting- now if only we actually knew just what the damn NX is.
