Hiroshi Yamauchi, who functioned as Nintenod’s third president, recently passed away at the age of 85. A true visionary, Yamauchi helped Nintendo climb to dominance, effectively cementing the company’s position as one of the strongest console manufacturers in history.

Current Nintendo president Satoru Iwata recently issued a statement regarding Yamauchi, saying that, “The entire Nintendo group will carry on the spirit of Mr Yamauchi by honouring, in our approach to entertainment, the sense of value he has taught us — that there is merit in doing what is different — and at the same time, by changing Nintendo in accordance with changing times.”

Following Yamauchi’s death, there were no updates on Nintendo’s social media channels. This was clarified to continue in the wake of his demise.
