The Nintendo Switch is one of the fastest selling systems of all time, and in a year and a half has accumulated an enviable library of exclusives and releases from third party games. As a hardware manufacturer and platform holder, Nintendo has rarely been in this good of a position.
And yet, there seem to be some people still holding out in the hope that Nintendo will one day maybe put its games on competing platforms. In a Q&A session with investors, Nintendo’s President Shuntaro Furukawa said that while the company welcomes the release of multi-platform games on its hardware, it has no plans of launching its own games across all hardware.
“If publishers want to release cross-platform titles, and doing so would make consumers happy, then as long as it is technically feasible, we would want to support them. That said, we have absolutely no plans to offer any Nintendo games as cross-platform titles at this time,” he said.
So, just in case, if, for whatever reason, you were holding out in hope that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might come out on the PS4 or whatever… well, don’t do that. It’s not happening. Just… get a Switch if you want to play them that badly.
