Recent reports have claimed that Nintendo has delayed the launch of its next-gen console out of 2024 and into Q1 of 2025, which, if true, would also likely mean that plans for when to announce the console have changed as well.

Previous leaks had claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) was supposed to be announced in March, but it now looks like that has been pushed back to June. That’s as per content creator PH Brazil, who originally broke the story regarding the Switch 2’s delay, and has also claimed that the console will launch with full physical and digital backward compatibility.

In a message on the Famiboards forums, PH Brazil claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 is now set to be unveiled sometime in June. Additionally, the leaker claims that Nintendo has another Direct presentation planned for April (with a Partner Showcase having been officially announced for tomorrow, as well as an Indie World presentation for sometime before that, “probably” March.

As for the Direct, known insider Felipe Lima, editor-in-chief of Universo Nintendo, has said that, to his knowledge, it’s going to be a general Direct rather than a Mini, which means we can likely expect larger-scale announcements and first-party titles.

Nintendo has a couple of first-party releases lined up for the Switch that are due out this year but don’t have release dates, in the form of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door’s remake. If a Direct does happen in April, we might presumably hear about those two and their release dates, at the very least.

Either way, for now, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt, especially given Nintendo’s unpredictability. We’ll keep an eye out for new details in the meantime, so stay tuned.
