A couple of updates in recent weeks have brought some rudimentary and long-overdue features to the Nintendo Switch, from the heavily-requested addition of folders (or something that comes close enough to folders) to letting Nintendo Switch Online subscribers customize their icons. Recently, firmware update 14.1.0 went live for the Switch, and added specifically to the latter.

As Nintendo explains, with the new Switch update, more customization options have been added for user icons, with the additions being primarily focused on Splatoon 2 characters, as well as characters from Animal Crossing that have birthdays in April.

Meanwhile, as detailed in the update’s patch notes, if you complete Nintendo Switch Online missions (which were also introduced recently alongside icon customization) and don’t claim the Platinum Points they give out, you’ll now receive notifications- though can you can turn that off if you want.

You can check out the full update notes for Switch’s firmware update 14.1.0 below.

“Platinum Point Notification Settings” has been added under Notifications in System Settings.

  • Unclaimed Platinum Points earned from completing Nintendo Switch Online missions on your Nintendo Switch system will generate notifications.
    • Nintendo Switch Online missions and rewards are not available in some countries and regions. For more information, see How to Complete a My Nintendo Mission.
  • Setting these notifications to OFF will hide the notification sent when there are unclaimed Platinum Points.
