Nintendo Switch Is ‘A Gamer’s Dream’, Says Hideo Kojima

"The fact you can play something at home and take it outside, this is the gamer’s dream."

We already know that the creator of Metal Gear, and the upcoming Death Stranding, seems to like the Nintendo Switch a lot. However, it was only when he was asked upfront to discuss his opinion on Nintendo’s upcoming machine that he shared exactly how much he likes the Switch. According to him, the system is a ‘gamer’s dream.’

“You might be familiar with the fact that for a previous game that I did, we had a specification that we called ‘Transfarring’ where you could take the saved data from the PS Vita and move it over to the PS3 and back and forth like that,” Hideo Kojima said to IGN at RTX Sydney. “I believe [Switch] is an extension of that idea. The fact you can play something at home and take it outside, this is the gamer’s dream. The Switch is an evolution of that.”

In a sense, he said, the Switch is the forerunner to a future where your game can run on all devices, and you can pick it up anywhere, on anything. Essentially, like the Play Anywhere concept by Microsoft, the Switch is preparing itself for a more modular future of gaming.

“I feel like cloud technology is what everything will eventually move to,” he stated. “It’s further behind right now than I think where people thought it would be at this point, but I think it will go there, and when the infrastructure is ready, you’ll be able to play everything, on every device, anywhere. The Switch is the predecessor to this step.”

The Nintendo Switch is due to launch on March 3 worldwide. Will you be picking one up for yourself? Let us know in the comments section.
