Nintendo Switch Is Among Most Sought Out Gifts at GameStop For Holiday Season; Xbox One X Off To A Strong Start

Nintendo and Microsoft reaping the benefits of their new hardware launches.

It looks like Nintendo’s winning streak will continue into the Holiday season, at least if the word of GameStop CEO Daniel DeMatteo is to be believed; speaking on a financial call, he confirmed that demand for the console remains strong and is expected to remain so during the Holiday Season.

Meanwhile, Chief Operating Officer Tony Bartel added that the Switch is expected to continue to sell out through the Holidays, especially since it remains one of the most sought after gifts this year- which, given the insanely good word of mouth and great hype around the system, makes total sense.

The Switch isn’t the only console doing well, either- the just launched Xbox One X is off to a strong start, according to Bartel, who also mentioned that units end up selling as soon as they hit the shelves, indicating extremely strong demand for Microsoft’s super powered Xbox One X, too.

How these two consoles do going forward remains to be seen- the Switch has firmly established itself as a leader in terms of sales ever since its launch. Hopefully the Xbox One X sustains its momentum, too.
