Even with rumors of a more powerful version of the console coming this year, the Nintendo Switch continues to sell amazingly well. In Nintendo’s latest earnings release, it announced that the Switch sold 11.57 million units in the quarter ending December 31st 2020. Total lifetime sales for the console are now at 79.87 million worldwide, surpassing the Nintendo 3DS’s lifetime total of 75.94 million units sold.
Hardware sales are up by 7.1 percent year-over-year. As a result, the company has altered its sales forecast for April 2020 to March 2021 from 24 million Switch units sold to 26.5 million. With big-name titles like Bravely Default 2 and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury coming in February, it may just hit that figure before the fiscal year is up.
Of course, established titles like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Ring Fit Adventure, Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continue to perform well. Check out their latest sales figures here. In the meantime, stay tuned for more details on the Switch’s milestones in the recent fiscal quarter.
