Nintendo Switch Named Gadget of the Year By TIME Magazine; Xbox One X #8

And what a well deserved win it is for Nintendo.

Nintendo has had a hell of a year. One year ago, they were ‘doomed’, and people wanted them to go out of the hardware business. One year later, the Switch is the best selling game console, with the best library of the year, and people actively want other companies to port their games to the Switch, because the Switch is what people like playing their games on.

It’s been a bumper year, and it’s headlined by Nintendo’s wonder new hybrid system. It’s so wondrous, in fact, that TIME Magazine has gone ahead and named it the Gadget of the Year for 2017- in a year that also included the launches of Samsung Galaxy S8, Note 8, the iPhone X, and on the gaming front, the Xbox One X, Nintendo emerged at the top of the pile with its quirky take on the home console concept.

Speaking of those other gadgets- they placed on the list, too. The Xbox One X was #8, the Galaxy S8 was #5, and the iPhone X was #2.

It’s been a great year all around, and especially for Nintendo- I am excited to see how they carry forward this momentum into next year.
