Nintendo’s New Commercial For Super Mario Run Will Tug At Your Nostalgic Heartstrings

Mario through the ages.

Posted By | On 16th, Dec. 2016

Mario is the essence of gaming. He is the face, the flavor, the mascot of gaming as a whole. At some point or another, almost everyone who plays games has played a Mario game, and has fond memories of playing a Mario game.

So, with the launch of Super Mario Run, which brings Nintendo’s ambassador of gaming to non Nintendo hardware for the very first time, potentially exposing him to his widest audience yet in the process, Nintendo have released an excellent new commercial for the game, that shows us the evolution of Mario platforming games over the years.

The commercial shows us how, no matter what 2D Mario game you started out with, you shared in an experience with hundreds of millions of other players worldwide through the ages- and how, you can now continue to share that experience with others on your iPhone, with Super Mario Run. As someone who started playing Mario with the very first Super Mario Bros. on the NES, this sort of made me misty eyed.

You can check out the commercial below. Super Mario Run is available now on iOS devices, with an Android release date planned for later.
