A livestream was recently held for Team Ninja’s Nioh 2, which featured the results of the avatar creation contest and the new three player co-op mode. The contest is interesting, because among the winners that will be added to the game’s presets is a character that looks like Final Fantasy 14 producer/director Naoki Yoshida. Check out the results below.
The co-op footage starts at the 58 minute mark, and the experience already looks like a huge step-up from the first game. Along with having more enemies in a co-op session, there’s also instanced loot. That means players will each have their own loot drops and won’t have to fight (or politely squabble) over the same. Shrine access can also be done separately.
Another interesting mechanic is the co-op gauge – if a player dies and this gauge runs out, then they can’t be revived. That means there’s an added risk to reviving downed teammates. Nioh 2 is currently slated to release on March 13th for PS4. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
These designs won the Nioh 2 avatar creation contest and will be added to the full game's preset list
(The 4th slots are special winning slots added because they originally only planned 3 winners per gender) pic.twitter.com/1CT5GxnH2Q— 黒凧 BlackKite (@bk2128) January 27, 2020
Fun fact: This design is actually based on Naoki Yoshida of Final Fantasy XIV fame, but apparently Yoshida-san himself is okay with it getting chosen pic.twitter.com/ylizFCVseq
