Finished Nioh 3, including the Shogun’s Journey, and feeling unstoppable? Fear not, because several “high-difficulty” Battle Scrolls are coming on April 27th in a free update. Battle Scrolls serve as side quests and allow for replaying specific Myths.

As for the incentive to pursue these (besides testing your skills), producer Kohei Shibata confirmed that they award new skills. There’s also the Stone of Penance, which can be used to increase accessory values and rarities “in exchange for higher difficulties.”

The patch also includes balance adjustments for enhancing “certain Graces,” so expect more details in the patch notes when it goes live.

Nioh 3 is available on PS5 and PC, having launched back in February and quickly surpassed a million sales, becoming the series’ fastest-selling title. Alongside free updates, two paid DLC – Hell Rising and Bloody Insurrection – are in the works. The former launches this September, while the latter arrives in February 2027.

Both will bring new stories, enemies, bosses, loot, and Yokai, and it’s a safe bet that Team Ninja could provide additional difficulty levels, as with previous games. As always, stay tuned for more updates and check out our review of the base game, which we awarded 9 out of 10 for the stellar combat, Open Field levels and excellent boss fights.
