Nioh 3 is PS5 Console-Exclusive for Six Months After Launch

While previous entries were never released for Xbox or Nintendo platforms, Team Ninja's latest may very well break that trend.

In a year where many of the heavy hitters come from big-time publishers, Team Ninja’s Nioh 3 could very well be a dark horse, standing out with its combat, open level design, and numerous other new mechanics. If you can’t play it on PS5 or PC, though, don’t worry – it may come to other consoles sooner than expected.

At the tail-end of a new trailer highlighting PS5-exclusive features, PlayStation clearly mentions that the title is “Not available on other consoles until at least six months after February 6, 2026.” That means it could potentially arrive for Xbox Series X/S and even Nintendo Switch 2 before the end of the year.

However, the keyword is “potentially.” Nioh 1 and 2 fans will know that neither title ever launched on other consoles. The same goes for Rise of the Ronin, which would only come to PC about one year after the PS5 version. While we’ve seen efforts like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Ninja Gaiden 4, Team Ninja has primarily favored PS5 and PC based on its track record.

That said, with publishers like Square Enix embracing multiplatform release strategies, especially for past exclusives like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nioh 3 marked a change in strategy. Team Ninja may even opt to hold off until next year and release the Complete Edition, which would include all DLC.

In the meantime, head here for everything you should know about Nioh 3. A free demo is currently available on PS5 and PC, offering hours of content and co-op support with progress carrying over to the game.
