Nioh Co-Op Changes Done to Avoid Being “Too Easy” – Team Ninja

Don't count on a high level player carrying you.

If you had played the demo for Nioh on PS4 with a buddy, jumping in at any time then you probably wondered why it changed in the final version of the game. Now, if you want to play with a friend, you’ll have to complete the same area before hand.

Why is this the case? Because as creative director Tom Lee revealed to Kotaku, “You cannot co-op through the entire game because that would make it too easy for players to beat the game.

“We want players to experience Nioh in how it was intended to be. We allowed players to co-op anytime in the last trial demo only because of the limited stages and time to try out the demo.”

While we understand why Team Ninja went with this approach, it would have been nice if it were communicated to players beforehand. As it stands, if you want to play with a friend, you’ll need to prove your own mettle first.
