No Man's Sky NEXT

Hello Games is gearing up for its largest free update for No Man’s Sky yet, called the “NEXT” update, though it has also revealed that smaller weekly updates would be coming after that as well. Speaking to IGN, creator Sean Murray announced that these weekly updates will bring events and missions with rewards for those participating.

“This is not a loot box thing, it’s not a microtransaction thing, it’s 100 percent free,” said Murray. The move was inspired by the community hosting in-game events and meet-ups, so this will offer more incentive to explore and discover things. The Galactic Atlas will be launching today, and it serves to showcase in-game events on the Galaxy Map. There will also be Portal Glyph addresses for players wanting to head to specific places.

If that weren’t enough, players can create points of interest on the Galactic Atlas, showcasing their bases, favourite planets, and other wonders for other players to see. The weekly updates won’t replace the major updates either – they’ll be added on top.

No Man’s Sky NEXT is out on July 24th for Xbox One, PC and PS4. The first weekly update will arrive one week after its launch.
