Nvidia is holding a press event on March 5, and according to the fancy invitation that they sent out, what they have to show is something that has been ‘years in the making,’ and will ‘redefine the future of gaming.’ Which of course begs the question as to what it is.
It could be an entirely new graphics card, one more powerful than their previous ones, but that doesn’t seem to make sense given how they are hyping the event up- unless the card adds something more than just more graphical capability, it’s not the future of gaming, it’s just what we have been getting so far, but fancier.
So what is it? Is it a new console or handheld? That would not be unheard of, especially since Nvidia already released its Shield portable (which it then followed up with a tablet last year); admittedly, Nvidia has openly been critical of console gaming in the past, but maybe that has applied only to other’s consoles, not something that it makes in house.
Here’s a novel idea- maybe it will be the flagship machine for the Steam Machine initiative by Valve. The timeline seems to fit, and theoretically, that could qualify as having been ‘years in the making’ and ‘the future of gaming.’
Or, instead of all this speculation, we could just wait and see what they have to show. Just as long as it isn’t another f***ing Android console, I’ll be happy.
