Gunzilla Games’ Off the Grid, a battle royale extraction shooter with District 9 director Neill Blomkamp involved, is available now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s currently in early access and features the initial locations alongside different weapons and game modes. Check out the launch trailer below.
The campaign involves surviving on Teardrop Island, though there’s some metanarrative about the player being a “gamer” during all this. Featuring a mix of PvP and PvE, you can gather and extract gear, which unlocks abilities and cybernetics, including changing limbs, for use in battle.
Though initially promised to feature 150 players, the PC early access page specifies up to 60. Extraction Royale, or XR, appears to be the main mode for now. A roadmap for upcoming content and how long the title will be in early access has yet to be revealed. Stay tuned for more details and updates in the coming months and years.
