Capcom confirmed that Okami HD, the fantastic remaster of the beloved PS2 classic, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch earlier this year, but they didn’t share a date, saying only that it would come some time this Summer. Now, we finally know when that might be- at least for the Japanese version of the game.
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has confirmed that Okami HD launches on the Nintendo Switch on August 9 in Japan. Curiously enough, the Switch version seems to be rather expensive- but it also seems like, unlike in the west, where we are only getting a digital release of the game, Japan will get a physical Collector’s Edition.
While Okami is available on every device and your toaster by now, the Switch version is the first time that the game will be available to play portably. It also supports touch screen controls, as well as motion controls by way of the Joycons- though, naturally, you can ignore all that if you want to. A western release date has not yet been confirmed, but given that Capcom has moved more and more towards worldwide launches of late, we can safely assume it will be around the same time as it will be releasing in Japan.
