Ori and the Will of the Wisps- Gamescom 2018 Trailer Reveals New “Spirit Trials” Mode

A new time trial mode that leverages the game's incredible movement? Yes please.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps has to be one of the most highly anticipated releases for the Xbox One, and for good reason too. With every new showing it’s looking better and better. Microsoft have also revealed a new trailer for the game at Gamescom 2018- and surprise, it looks better!

The trailer reveals the new Spirit Trials, which are essentially time trial runs. Players can attempt these Spirit Trials to run through a level or a course as quickly as they can, all the while competing against ghosts of other players. Leaderboards are, of course, also featured, and placing high on the charts or beating your friends nets you in-game rewards.

It’s a very exciting feature, because it’s leveraging the excellent movement, tight traversal, and responsive controls that we all associate Ori with. Almost seems like a perfect fit, if you ask me. You can watch the gameplay video showing over two minutes of footage of Spirit Trials below.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps launches for Xbox One and PC some time in 2019. A more concrete release date hasn’t yet been confirmed.
