Origin is absolutely required to even install Syndicate

It seems like EA is pushing their digital distribution network Origin harder, and somehow people have started getting used to it. It turns out that you require Origin to download Syndicate if you choose to buy the PC version.

This is what the staff of greenmangaming said on their forums:

So yes, it is locked to Origin for now. Not only does it have a lot more third-party publishers, it also features some must wanted games like Mass Effect 3. Good going I say, EA! This is definitely working to increase Origin’s popularity, which had made $100 million since launch and has 9.3 million registered users.
