Insomniac Games was recently hacked by a ransomware group known as Rhysida, which claimed to have access to large amounts of internal, confidential data, including personal information of several employees. Following Insomniac’s refusal to pay for the return of the data, the hacker group has now released the vast majority of it online, as reported by Cyber Daily. In a statement provided to the outlet, the hacker group has said it viewed Insomniac as “an easy target”.
As a result of the leak, over 1.3 million of stolen internal Insomniac files, amounting to about 1.67 terabtyes, have now flooded the internet. Specifically where the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine is confirmed, the leak includes extensive plot details (including how the game ends), concept art, early development gameplay footage, assets, and much more, none of which we’ll be covering here at GamingBolt.
The leak has also revealed that Insomniac is targeting a 2026 release window for Marvel’s Wolverine, and that the game will be followed up by multiple X-Men sequels. Other unannounced upcoming titles that have been revealed by the leak include Marvel’s Venom, a smaller standalone game that will release in 2025, a new Ratchet and Clank game targeting a 2029 release, and a new IP that is scheduled to launch after 2030.
The leak has also revealed sales data and budget details on titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (which apparently failed to turn a profit), and the unannounced Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.
