Overwatch On PS4 And Xbox One Will Have Different Game Balance Compared To PC

“We don’t want to do anything that would harm PCs because of console tuning.”

Overwatch

Blizzard’s next game is Overwatch, a wacky free to play shooter that will also be their very first simultaneous release on consoles and PC- while previous Blizzard games have often received releases on consoles too, Overwatch is the first time Blizzard release a game on consoles at the same time as its PC release.

However, in an era where games play the same no matter what platform they are played on, Blizzard are still not willing to give in completely to homogeneity- in a recent interview, they confirmed that they plan to keep game balance separate in the PC version and the console versions of the game.

“We don’t want to do anything that would harm PCs because of console tuning,” game director Jeff Kaplan told Th3Jez in an interview. “And there’s been a lot of unease about ‘I play on this platform, which means the other one is going to ruin it for us’ and we wouldn’t do that.”

Overwatch releases on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One May 24.
