With the most recent patch that nerfed Mercy further into oblivion and attempted to “balance” Junkrat, Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch also received 4K support for the Xbox One X. Interestingly enough, this led many to question whether it was fully running at 4K resolution or not. Microsoft’s corporate VP of gaming Mike Ybarra confirmed on Twitter that it was the real deal.
“Yes, @PlayOverwatch runs at full 4k not just the UI. No idea how rumors like that start. @ww from Blizzard’s elite Overwatch team confirmed. Enjoy it because it’s epic!”
As for why Overwatch is not currently showing as an Xbox One X Enhanced title, Ybarra further noted that, “It is enhanced just not showing in list. It will soon.” Which should be about now if you haven’t logged in recently.
Though fans are either overjoyed or outraged with the current state of Mercy, Blizzard has more than enough reasons to celebrate its hero shooter. The Overwatch League, a dedicated competitive league of 12 teams fighting for a prize pool of $3.5 million, has seen over 10 million views in its first week alone. That’s only the first stage as well – with the conclusion upcoming, expect even more viewers to jump on ship, potentially investing in League Tokens as well for real money.
