When publishing manager John Buckley said he was losing his mind over Palworld 1.0’s patch notes, he wasn’t kidding. Available as the title existed in early access, they’re appropriately massive, detailing the new content, features and changes.
First off is Sunreach, the new region that consists of a set of floating islands. You’ll encounter new Pals, Tower bosses, and even new ores, and while that’s all well and good, you can expect the World Tree to offer the “great challenge yet.”
Beyond those, the world itself has seen numerous additions, including Ancient Ruins that award schematics; Watchtowers for uncovering nearby areas and providing fast travel points; seven new small islands with exclusive Pals; new settlements, complete with new NPCs and side quests; and more.
Speaking of Pals, 72 more have been added (47 new, 25 Variants), bringing the total to 287, but that’s not all. By exploring the World Tree, you’ll discover Radiant Gems to trigger Awakening, further bolstering their power. There’s also Mutation, which can produce a Pal with higher stats and a unique passive after breeding (though it’s a small chance).
And if that wasn’t enough, the story has been “significantly reworked,” so you’ll now learn more about the various bosses and why everyone is fighting over the World Tree. Check out the full patch notes here for all the details.
Palworld is available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PC. Since exiting early access, it’s topped nearly 500,000 peak concurrent players on Steam (and is only rising).
