A new Paper Mario game has been in the rumour mill for a while, and now, with little to no fanfare, Nintendo have officially announced Paper Mario: The Origami King, coming to the Switch this July. Mario sets off on his adventure as he becomes aware of King Olly’s devious plans to fold the entire world, following which, as the trailer claims, “an origami plot unfolds.”

The trailer itself shows plenty of gameplay footage, including snippets of combat in the new ring-based battle system, various different environments that players will be traversing, some interesting new mechanics, and more, while the visual aesthetic of the game is also shining through and looking about as charming as you’d expect. Take a look below.

One of the new abilities Mario has in The Origami King is 1000-Fold Arms, which, as Nintendo describes in its press release, “allows you to interact with the landscape by stretching out and pulling, peeling and revealing new locations, helping you to solve puzzles and uncover unexpected surprises.”

Paper Mario: The Origami King is out exclusively for the Switch on July 17.
