Dare I hope?

In November 2013, after an excruciating wait of five years, Atlus finally announced the long expected Persona 5, confirming that the game would be launching in Winter of 2014. At the Tokyo Game Show in 2014, however, following a period of radio silence since that initial announcement, Atlus confirmed that the game had been delayed into 2015, but that it would now be coming to the PS4 in addition to the originally announced PS3 SKU.

Through all of 2015, Atlus kept insisting that Persona 5 would be releasing that year- until Tokyo Game Show, again, when after a half year period of radio silence, Atlus confirmed that the game had been delayed into 2016.

Which brings us to- now. Atlus are teasing a major new announcement for Persona 5 on May 5, 2016 (that’s 5/5, for the numerically inclined ones of you). I want to say that I hope they announce a release date- but at this point, it might just be another delay.

The smart thing to do would be to get Persona 5 out this Summer, before Final Fantasy 15 comes along and sucks all the wind out of the sails of the genre. Whether or not that is what happens is up in the air.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt. We’ll be reporting on the heartbreak from Atlus’ stream as and when it happens. Persona 5 is allegedly due out exclusively on the PS3 and PS4 in Summer of this year.
