Microsoft had a very impressive outing during their E3 press conference. As a part of the panel during the E3 Coliseum, Xbox Head Phil Spencer shared some of his thoughts regarding his interest in indie games, and what this means for the Xbox console.
During the interview, Spencer stated that he sees the “creative capability of that large community”, and then admits that the Xbox team wasn’t doing a very good job at launch when it came to indie titles. He also praised Sony by saying that he thought they were doing a much better job with indies back then. He also praised the efforts Chris Charla, Director of ID @ Xbox with the help of which the company has been able to release some excellent indie games on the Xbox One.
He stated, “At launch I think we weren’t doing enough work there. I thought Sony did a much better job supporting indies early on.” However, it looks like Microsoft has changed their approach now, and Spencer points to the skateboarding game Session that was showcased on their main E3 stage along with much bigger titles.
Hopefully, this means that we’ll be seeing some great new indie titles coming to the Xbox One in the future.
