Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch This Holiday

Classic round based CRPGs on the go?

Obsidian’s sequel to their well received Pillars of EternityPillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, will be coming to consoles much like the first game. While the PC and Mac release of the game is coming up on April 3, those without a machine or an inclination to play the PC release can still look forward to a console release later this year.

Game Informer is reporting that a Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One release of the game will follow later this year, with Red Cerberus handling development duties for the game. Versus Evil and Obsidian will apparently be handling publishing duties together. The release is currently slated for the Holiday season.

Given how ideal the Switch’s form factor is for round based CRPGs, this is excellent news- and between this and Wasteland 2, it is clear that more and more western developers are warming up to the idea of putting their games on Switch. Until it comes out on the consoles, however, you can look forward to the PC and Mac release on April 3.
