Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Might Not Launch With Micro-Transactions

May stick to in-game currency to start with.

Now this is interesting: EA, a publisher that helped shove the practice of micro-transactions down our throats regardless of the platform, is feeling a tad skeptical about including the same in PopCap’s upcoming Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

In a hands-on session with GameRevolution, producer Brian Lindley stated that “We haven’t actually figured out yet whether we’re gonna allow packs to be bought with real money. I think we’ll probably launch using just in-game currency before we turn any other options on.”

So yes, there’s a possibility that EA could add micro-transactions later. Considering the flak the company has drawn even for Plants vs. Zombies 2 – which actually handled micro-transactions very well – it’s understandable if they adopt a “wait and see” approach.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare launches for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on February 20th in Europe and February 25th in North America. The PC version is currently without a release date.
