PlatinumGames has always been something of a workhorse studio. The output they’ve managed has been nothing short of incredible, considering their size as well as modern budgets. It’s also an exciting time for the company, as they are taking a step toward more independence with self-publishing, but they are still working on several projects with major publishers such as Nintendo and Square Enix. Naturally, it seems an expansion is in order.

In an interview with Famitsu magazine, as translated by Gematsu, Studio Head Atsushi Inaba confirmed that the company is expanding with a new 100-person studio stationed in Tokyo. Their first task is working on the next game from legendary director Hideki Kamiya, known right now as only Project GG.

PlatinumGames has taken a pretty ambitious step, with two more unknown titles to be revealed soon of the “Platinum 4.” Considering all this, plus the other work they’re doing for hire, it’s no wonder they need some kind of expansion. Good luck to them.
