PlayStation 3: 10 Franchises/Games That Need To Come Back From Hibernation

Viewtiful Joe

Another Capcom game in this list and another disappointment of not seeing this turned in to a franchise and coming over to the current generation of consoles. With all of the games listed over here have been rendered in three dimensions, I thought it would be unfair if I do not list a 2D platformer.  Viewtiful Joe was a gorgeous looking game with cel-shaded graphics. The game was praised for its unique VFX powers like controlling time and Mach Speed which allows Joe to run at super high speeds. The PlayStation 3 is meant to create immersive worlds and gorgeous 3D environments, but with recent franchises like Little Big Planet there is no doubt in my mind that Viewtiful Joe as franchise still has a lot to offer.

Bully

Bully just like other Rockstar products was an open sandbox game and told a hilarious tale of a spoiled brat: Jimmy Hopkins. Featuring mini games and fun filled BMX races, completing Bully will take a good chunk of your time. You can travel to various places like down town and run away from school using your go-kart and skateboard. The game was originally released on the PlayStation 2, followed by Scholarship Editions on the Xbox 360 and Wii. Yes…you read that correctly. There was no PlayStation 3 version of Bully. But in one of the interviews, Shawn Lee who gave the music for Bully said, “Yes. It looks like I will be doing the soundtrack for Bully 2 in the not so distant future” So the franchise may come over to the PS3 after all.

Kya: Dark Lineage

I am pretty sure that very few of our readers might be unaware of this little game from 2003. Published by Atari, Dark Lineage was an underrated action adventure game on the PlayStation 2. During the course of the game, the player can collect nooties which will enable them to buy special abilities like climbing walls, riding animals and perform large jumps. Dark Lineage had a very deep combat system which according to me is better than some of the current generation platformers. The game never got a sequel and judging how “good” platformers have almost gone extinct this generation except Ratchet and Clank, we may live to see Kya back in action.
