Near the end of last week, the newest update came for Sony’s PS4. We mentioned in the article detailing it that usually those minor updates were a precursor to major ones and, lo and behold, it now seems that the beta for the next major console update, 7.00, are in the process of getting sent out.
As posters on a gaming forum revealed, some select PS4 users have been getting emails with invites to the beta. Emails will come with a code that you use in your console. It’s not clear if there’s any method to the invites or if it’s random.
Apparently the update will include system updates where you will no longer have to restart your system after every update as you do now. You can change your settings and updates will automatically be downloaded and applied. It will also bring a new Party update, where you can connect with more friends in Party sessions ranging from 8-16 players.
Keep an eye on your emails, as invites are still ongoing. There’s no word yet on when the update will go live for everyone. We’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.
