Pokemon Coming To Smartphones?

Posted By | On 06th, Jul. 2011

Despite Nintendo’s famous misgivings about smartphones, it seems that a Pokemon app called Pokemon Iie Tap (roughly Pokemon: Say Tap?) will be foraging its way to iOS and Android. It seems to be a rhythm game where you “tap on Pokemon trading cards to the beat of a song from the anime, ” or so says a translation from Gamesradar. Though this is the first officially licensed Nintendo game planned for the smartphone, let us not forget that Pokemon did appear as a mobile app in Japan in 2006 as a mobile phone game called Pokemate.  Alas, a release outside of Japan has not been announced.

Thanks to Gamasutra for the info.
