Earlier in the year it was announced that Nintendo and Tencent were embarking on a partnership with potential major impact on both companies to bring the popular Nintendo Switch to mainline China at some point in the near future. Where that alliance will take either company remains to be seen, but it seems that it’s also developed in another unexpected way with game development.
It was announced today that Tencent is developing a Pokemon game headed by their TiMi Studio Group, who was behind Call of Duty: Mobile, which was a reworked mobile version of the shooter franchise, as well as a massive success in China (thanks to Serkan Toto below for translations).
As of now there’s no platforms announced, but considering the past input from TiMi Studiio it’s most likely a mobile title. That would match the fairly aggressive moves that Nintendo is making into mobile with the Pokemon brand, which is expanding rapidly with multiple games and applications on the mobile front. We’ll keep you updated.
Wow, Tencent and The Pokemon Company are developing a new game (probably for smart devices).
Development taken over by Tencent's TIMI studio, which is responsible for the company's biggest hits (+ the upcoming Call Of Duty Mobile).
