Pokemon GO Developer Relaunching Their First Game Ingress Next Year As Ingress Prime

Capitalizing on that Pokemon GO success.

Posted By | On 05th, Dec. 2017

Before there was Pokemon GO, there was Ingress-the game that first melded AR and geolocation to create an addictive formula that would take the world by storm when it was married to Pokemon with Pokemon GO. However, Ingress never was as successful- but, now, with all eyes on them thanks to Pokemon GO and the upcoming Harry Potter game, as well as, presumably, better infrastructure, Niantic has announced its intent to relaunch Ingress next year.

The relaunched version will be called Ingress Prime, which will feature a redesigned interface and new sound design, to better deliver its cyberpunk sci-fi premise to players. Apparently, this will be accompanied by some new plot threads, too. You can check out the first trailer for Ingress Prime for yourself below.

Ingress and Pokemon GO are currently available on iOS and Android devices. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is due out next year, presumably for iOS and Android devices too.
