Pokemon GO continues to remain massively successful. Shortly after the release of the generation 2 update, which among other things, added 80 new Pokemon to the game from the Johto region featured in Pokemon Gold/Silver, it appears that the game has now crossed another major milestone.
Developer Niantic announced during Google Developer Day at the 2017 Game Developers Conference that Pokemon GO has now crossed 650 million downloads worldwide, which is up from the figure of 500 million downloads that the game had had back in September. Collectively, players playing Pokemon GO have walked 8.7 billion kilometres, which would almost take you to Pluto- so they’re a really dedicated bunch, that’s for sure.
Niantic mentioned that it plans to keep the game fresh via content updates- which hopefully means that trading and PvP battling will actually be added to the game at some point. Pokemon GO is available now on iOS and Android devices.
