Pokemon Legends Z-A

The Pokemon Company finally revealed the first gameplay for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, outlining Lumiose City and the story set-up. It also confirmed a launch in late 2025, though a release on Nintendo Switch 2 has yet to be revealed. Check out the trailer below.

Players arrive in Lumiose City and choose one of three starter Pokemon – Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig. They stay in a hotel run by AZ and Floette while also interacting with Quasartico, which is handling the city’s re-development effort. A new ally (and potential rival), Urbaine or Taunie, also appears to interact with.

Players can explore the streets and take teleportation lifts to venture to the rooftops. There are Wild Zones inhabited by wild Pokemon that players can capture and battle. Like Pokemon Legends: Arceus, combat is real-time, and, for the first time in the series, positioning and timing matter since abilities have range and area-of-effect.

Players can also lead Pokemon around to help them dodge. Mega Evolution also returns. The trailer ends with a pre-rendered cutscene announcing a Promotion Match with Prism Tower showcased. Stay tuned for more details and updates.
