Pokemon Might Rocket Nintendo Switch To 40% Market Share If It Hits 2018 Launch, Says NPD Analyst.

Will Switch become the very best, like no one ever was?

Nintendo Switch is taking the world by storm, and nobody can deny the sales power that’s inside the Pokemon franchise. According to NPD analyst Mat Piscatella, both coming together will be the chocolate meets peanut butter combination that gets Nintendo to 40% of the market share.

Sharing his insight on Resetera, Piscatella believes that the Nintendo Switch has the potential to outdo the Wii in the long run. It’s already on pace to exceed Wii by 20% or more over the first 10 months of both systems lives. The nature of the Hybrid console also makes owning multiple units per home more compelling and thus, increases the sales potential. The release of the hugely popular Pokemon series on the Switch next year being the catalyst for that leap.

The pedigree of the NPD and it’s reputation as one of the most reliable sources for sales statistics in the US does lend some credibility to these predictions. Far from the only ones excited from the sales of the Nintendo Switch, Gamestop finds the hybrid system is one of the most sought after holiday gifts.
