Sales are down somewhat from last year's Pokemon Sun and Moon however.

Nintendo’s Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, enhanced versions of last year’s releases that added more story content among other features, have done pretty well in Japan. The 3DS titles have sold 1,199,814 copies according to Famitsu from November 17th to November 19th. So yes, that’s almost 1.2 million units in just three days.

Download cards and double packs are factored into the sales but eShop purchases are not. This means the overall number could be higher. It’s to be expected from Pokemon though Pokemon Sun and Moon sold over 1.9 million copies in Japan within its first three days. It went on to ship 10 million copies worldwide on its first day of release so we’ll have to see if Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon can measure up.

As for the Nintendo 3DS, sales rose from 18,687 units to 40,582 units last week, most likely thanks to the release of new Pokemon titles. Game Freak is also working on a Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch which is expected to arrive in 2018.
