Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire, the remakes to the 2003 classic Gameboy Advance Pokemon games, Ruby and Sapphire, were announced about a month ago, but so far, we haven’t actually gotten to see much of them at all. Well, that changed today, as Nintendo gave us our first look at the games (they look great, by the way), and then also gave us a release date for the games (finally!)
As for when we can play them? Much sooner than you’d expect! Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire will be launching exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS line of systems on November 28 this year. So Nintendo gets these games out right in time for holiday seasons, which means they should see a spike in sales that will be larger than the usual one associated with the release of Pokemon games.
Nintendo also confirmed that the remakes will feature Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, sort of Mega-deevolutions of the classic legendary Pokemon that add to their power greatly. What kinds of changes these bring to the games themselves remains to be seen, but judging by Game Freak’s track record with Pokemon remakes, OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire should turn out great.
