Pokemon Sun/Moon are primed to be a success- as the seventh mainline entry in the Pokemon saga, they were already going to do very well, but the fact that it’s the 20th anniversary of Pokemon this year, as well as the success of Pokemon GO bringing the brand back into the limelight this year, have collectively added to the hype and anticipation for the title.
This has been reflected in the incredibly strong demand for the game. One month ahead of its launch, Pokemon Sun/Moon are already the most pre-ordered games ever in Nintendo’s history. The most amazing part here is that digital pre-orders are not counted in this number, since the games are not available to pre-purchase on the eShop yet.
The thirst for Pokemon is high- the special demo for Pokemon Sun/Moon on Nintendo 3DS is also the most downloaded game demo ever for a 3DS game. It looks like people can’t wait to get their hands on the game, already- which makes sense, too, given how much of a departure from every single Pokemon game so far Sun/Moon seem to be.
